Box Type Powder Coating Curing Ovens

Box type ovens are industrial ovens designed for curing and baking parts after electrostatic powder coating application, operating on batch (intermittent) production principle. In this system, painted parts are loaded into the oven with hangers or carrier cart groups, and curing is performed at specified temperature (160-220°C) ve sürede (15-30 minutes) Acrotech box type ovens are preferred in low-medium capacity production facilities due to their high efficiency, space saving and low initial investment cost.

How Does a Box Type Oven Work?

In box type ovens, after the painted parts are loaded into the oven, the lid is closed and the oven automatically starts heating. The thermoblock heating unit inside the oven generates heat from ambient temperature up to +230°C. The radial fan system provides homogeneous heat distribution through air channels and vents extending along the oven. At the end of the curing time, the oven automatically signals and the parts are left to cool. In this way, the powder coating permanently adheres to the surface through chemical reaction and forms a durable finish.

Technical Specifications and Design

Oven Panels

Oven panels are insulated with 150mm insulation material as standard. Insulated with 50mm rock wool (53 kg/m³) from the inner side and 120mm glass wool from the outer side. Oven inner sheet is manufactured from 1.2mm ST 37 Galvanized, outer sheet from 1.2mm ST 37 material. The outer sheet is coated with electrostatic powder coating to increase corrosion resistance.

Air Circulation

Air circulation inside the oven is provided by radial type fan, air channels extending along the oven and vents placed in the channels. This system achieves homogeneous heat distribution inside the oven and guarantees that all parts are cured at equal temperature.

Air flow can be optimized with adjustable vents, which adapts to different part geometries.

Heat Control

Heat control is performed with the thermocouple placed in the oven. The oven automatically signals when it reaches the desired temperature. Precise adjustment between 0-230°C can be made with the digital timer on the heat control panel.

Parameters such as time, temperature and fan speed can be easily programmed and saved with the PLC control system.

Heating Unit and Efficiency

Acrotech heating exchangers are designed on the basis of maximum efficiency and minimum fuel consumption. Boiler exchangers are manufactured from 310 grade stainless steel and are 1000°C'ye resistant.

The smoke pipes used in thermoblocks are normalized seamless smoke pipes. The thermoblock is placed inside the combustion chamber and surrounded by 150mm rock wool. There is an access panel for thermoblock malfunctions on the combustion chamber. There is a turbine fan in the combustion chamber that distributes heat to the oven. Combustion efficiency can be monitored through the thermoblock inspection hole.
