Tunnel Type Powder Coating Curing Ovens

Tunnel type ovens are industrial ovens designed for curing and baking parts after electrostatic powder coating application, operating on continuous production principle. In this system, the curing or drying of the coating is achieved as the painted parts pass through the oven at a certain speed after being hung on the conveyor line. Acrotech tunnel type ovens are widely used in high capacity production facilities across various sectors such as white goods, automotive, construction, agricultural machinery and aluminum industry.

How Does a Tunnel Type Oven Work?

Tunnel type ovens are based on the principle of curing the workpiece by hanging it on the oven conveyor. After the workpiece is hung on the conveyor, the coating is cured or dried while moving at a certain speed according to the thickness and surface area of the part.

The oven contains a heating unit, air circulation system and control panel. Parts progress from the preheating zone to the main curing zone, then to the cooling zone. Temperature and air flow are individually controlled in each zone for optimized curing.

Sandwich Panels

Tunnel type curing and drying ovens are manufactured in demountable form, assembled on chassis as sandwich panels. The inner section of the curing oven is manufactured from 1.2mm ST 37 Galvanized, the outer section from 1.2mm ST 37 material.

The oven outer sheet is coated with electrostatic powder coating to increase corrosion resistance. Thanks to the demountable structure, it can be easily assembled and relocated to other areas when desired.

Heating Unit

Acrotech heating unit is designed on the basis of maximum efficiency and minimum fuel consumption. The heating unit mounted on the rear of the oven can raise the oven temperature to 0-250°C. The heating unit is manufactured from 310s grade stainless steel material and is resistant up to 1000°C.

The smoke pipes used in the heating unit are normalized seamless smoke pipes. The heating unit is placed inside the combustion chamber and insulated with 150mm 150kg/m³ rock wool. There is an access panel on the heating unit for malfunctions.

Sliding Door

Tunnel type curing ovens have two sliding doors at the entrance and exit. These doors are automatically or manually adjusted according to part size. This prevents unnecessary heat losses and provides savings.

Heat control is performed via the thermostat placed inside the oven. It can be adjusted up to 0-250°C via the digital timer on the heat control panel.

Insulation System and Energy Efficiency

Curing oven panels are insulated with 150mm insulation material as standard. The inner section of the oven panels is insulated with 50mm 53kg/m³ rock wool, the outer section with 120mm glass wool, and due to this insulation feature in the curing oven, heat kayıpları ambient temperaturenın (±10)°C üzerine çıkmamaktadır.

Thus, our curing ovens consume less fuel and do not overheat the working environment. There is a radiant type fan that provides air circulation inside the curing oven, and homogeneous heat distribution is achieved inside the oven thanks to air channels extending along the oven and vents placed on the channels.
