U-turn ovens are continuous production ovens with internal U-turn (U-shape) conveyor system, designed for curing and baking parts after electrostatic powder coating application. In this system, painted parts follow a U-shaped path on the oven conveyor for curing and return from the same side. Acrotech U-type ovens are widely used in white goods, automotive, construction and agricultural machinery sectors with their compact design that saves space, takes up less floor area compared to tunnel type ovens and efficiency in high capacity production lines.
U-type curing and drying ovens are based on the principle of curing the workpiece by hanging it on the oven conveyor. These ovens are internal U-turn type ovens. After the workpiece is hung on the conveyor, it is cured or dried while moving at a certain speed according to the thickness and m² area of the part.
The conveyor system takes parts from one end of the oven, turns in a U-shape and brings them to the other end. This design provides double pass in the same area, reducing the oven length by half and saving space within the facility. Parts pass through preheating, curing and cooling zones for homogeneous processing.
Acrotech heating exchangers are designed on the basis of maximum efficiency and minimum fuel consumption. Our thermoblocks mounted on the rear of the oven can raise the oven temperature from ambient temperature to +230°C. Acrotech heating exchangers are manufactured from 310 grade stainless steel material and are resistant up to 1000°C.
The smoke pipes used in the thermoblock are normalized seamless smoke pipes. The thermoblock is placed inside the combustion chamber and insulated with 150mm rock wool. There is an access panel on the combustion chamber for thermoblock malfunctions. There is a turbine fan in the combustion chamber that distributes heat into the oven. Combustion efficiency is monitored through the inspection hole on the thermoblock, and precautions are taken against gas and diesel compressions inside the thermoblock.
U-type curing and drying ovens are manufactured from sandwich panels, mounted on chassis in demountable form. The inner section of the curing oven is 1.2mm ST 37 Galvanized, the outer section is manufactured from 1.2mm ST 37 material. The oven outer layer is coated with electrostatic powder coating to increase corrosion resistance.
Oven panels are insulated with 150mm insulation material as standard. Insulated with 50mm rock wool from the inside and 120mm glass wool from the outside. Due to this insulation feature in the curing oven, heat losses do not exceed (±10) degrees above ambient temperature. Thus, our curing ovens consume less fuel and do not overheat the working environment.
There is a radial type fan inside the oven, with air channels extending along the oven and vents placed in the channels providing homogeneous heat distribution. Heat control is performed with the thermocouple placed in the oven. The U-type curing oven automatically signals when it reaches the desired temperature and can be adjusted to 0-230°C sayesinde 0-230°C'ye adjustable.
